Lars Bjerkenstedt

Lars Bjerkenstedt är professor i allmänpsykiatri vid Strömstad Akademi sedan 14 oktober 2009.

Lars Bjerkenstedt föddes 1940 och växte upp i Sundbyberg och Solna. Han blev filosofie kandidat 1960 vid Stockholms universitet, med.kand. 1962 och med.lic. 1967 vid Karolinska Institutet, 1972 specialist i allmän psykiatri, 1978 medicine doktor och 1983 docent vid Karolinska Institutet, 1985 legitimerad psykoterapeut, 1985-1999 klinikchef/chefsöverläkare vid Östermalm-Lidingö psykiatriska klinik, 2000 chefläkare Stockholms Läns Landsting, 2000-2005 docent vid FoU-enheten Karolinska sjukhuset, 2007-2008 gästprofessor i allmän psykiatri vid Institutionsstyrelsen (INR) Linköpings universitet, 2008-2009 sekreterare Svenska Aminosyresällskapet. Under åren 1989 till 1999 genomgick han tre ledarskapsprogram. Under åren som klinikchef författade Bjerkenstedt ett trettiotal kvalitetssäkringsrapporter i SPRI-lines regi.

Bjerkenstedt har sedan 1972 publicerat ett 70-tal titlar varav sedan år 1985 en speciell inriktning mot relationer mellan perifer aminosyreomsättning inklusive aminosyretransport, monoaminer och kliniska variabler vid olika psykiatriska sjukdomstillstånd utgjort den vetenskapliga tyngden.

Bjerkenstedt är medlem sedan 1967 i Sveriges Läkarförbund samt Svenska Läkarsällskapet, sedan 1972 till och med år 2000 i Svenska Psykiatriska Föreningen, sedan 1974 i Skandinaviska Sällskapet för Neuropsykofarmakologi, sedan 1998 medlem i Svenska Schizofrenisällskapet samt sedan 2008 medlem i Svenska Aminosyresällskapet

Bjerkenstedt has since 1972 published about 70 papers. Since 1985 most papers are about relationships between amino acid turnover including amino acid transport, monoamine metabolites and clinical variables in different mental disorders.
