Acta Academiae Stromstadiensis (AAS) is Strömstad Academy’s first electronic report series. Downloaded in pdf format.
Members of Strömstad Academy can publish reports in Acta Academiae Stromstadiensis by sending manuscripts in doc format to the series’ editor, Gudmund Bergqvist gudmundbergqvist@hotmail.com
Adopted reports are published via University West at Diva and are thus searchable in global academic search systems. The Board decided on 24 / 6-13 on the following guidelines for the publication series AAS:

  • AAS publications are published as pdf files on the website with ”free access” and via University West at Diva
  • AAS is intended for members of Strömstad Academy as authors. However, co-authors who are not members of the academy are allowed.
  • Only one copy of each AAS publication is printed on behalf of the academy’s library. Authors who want their writing in paper format can print it themselves.
  • Each AAS publication has its own ISBN. This also applies to anthologies (so the various chapters do not have their own ISBN numbers) As the publications are only published electronically, no compulsory copies are sent to Swedish universities.
  • AAS publications are published at the Digital Scientific Archive DiVA in collaboration with University West.
  • An editorial committee appointed by the academy’s board is responsible for the content and publication of AAS publications and decides on publication. External review (see below) is indicative. The committee consists of a convener and a maximum of 3 members.
  • Manuscripts for publication are sent in doc format to the convening of the editorial committee. After the committee’s OK (see Quality Criteria), certain editorial adjustments are made, the report receives an AAS number and a publication month, is provided with a front page and ISBN number, and is converted to a pdf format and posted on the website.

General requirements

  • An AAS paper is typically between 10 and 100 pages, but can also be longer or shorter.
  • The language is primarily Scandinavian (Danish, Norwegian, Swedish) or English. Alternatively, it can be in another language, but must then contain a summary in Scandinavian or English, and that table headings and figure texts must also be in Scandinavian or English.
  • The script should have 3-6 keywords in Scandinavian or keywords in English or both
  • It is recommended that the writing is provided with an abstract in Scandinavian or English or both.
  • The author is responsible for the content and that it does not contravene Swedish law or contain copyrighted material.
  • It is the author’s responsibility that the text is language examined

Quality criteria

  1. Papers with general subject content. These may include popular science, compilation of R&D results, educational materials, debate, conference or travel report, or the like. AAS is not intended for fictional contributions. The contributions are valued (in the public interest) for publication by the AAS editorial committee.
  2. Writings with scientific content. AAS publishes scientific articles in the research disciplines represented by Strömstad Academy members. Submitted manuscripts intended to be published as scientific writings should be marked ”peer review” by the author to distinguish them from manuscripts with general subject content.
  3. The editorial committee may also decide to classify a script’s content as scientific. When a scientific manuscript has been received, the editorial committee appoints 1-2 people who review and evaluate the scientific quality of the contribution, and who recommend or reject publication, immediately or after the proposed revision. Reviewers are qualified representatives / researchers in a suitable field. The editorial committee may use academy members as reviewers when appropriate. Reviewers are anonymous outside the editorial committee

The Board decided on 24 / 6-13 to establish Strömstad Academy’s free writing series:

Establishment of Strömstad Academy’s Free Writing Series with the following guidelines :Members of Strömstad Academy have the right to have manuscripts published electronically in Strömstad Academy’s free writing series without review. The only thing that applies is that the author is responsible for the content and that it does not contravene Swedish law or contain copyrighted material. Manuscripts are sent directly to the webmaster.

NOTE: Strömstad Academy is for a free exchange of thoughts and ideas. The authors of writings in AAS and SAFS are responsible for the material in the scriptures. Opinions in these are the authors’ own, not Strömstad Academy’s.
